EV Tuesday Week 234

EV Tuesday Week 234

It's EV Tuesday!

4th August 2026

Good day to our EV Tuesday readers.

How are all our readers this week? Who has been on holiday and who is getting ready to go? If you are travelling around in your EV, remember that there are hotels you can charge at and lots of charging stations will be available on your routes.
Our EV Tuesday writer is going away on their annual trip, so unfortunately there won't be any EV Tuesday newsletters for the next 2 weeks!
We look forward to being back on it in 2 weeks time!

Until next time, have a great week!

Sit back, and enjoy this week's edition of EV Tuesday.

We will be posting this to our social media channels including Twitter & Reddit (check out r/evcables subreddit). If you have access to our blog, you will get an extra item :)

Get involved and give us any ideas in the comments, they may well get used next week!

Right, ready.....steady.........GO!!

Feedback, Requests, Questions?
As always, please give us feedback on Twitter. Which item is your favourite? What do you want more or less of? Other suggestions? Just send a tweet to @ev_cables and put #EVTuesdays at the end so we can find it.

Have a great week everyone and happy reading!

1. EV APP OF THE WEEK: PAUA

Paua makes public EV charging simple. We enable drivers to find, charge, and pay across different charging networks, taking the hassle out of EV charging with one single app and RFID card.

2. EV NEWS: CAR WOW

The government has confirmed it’s pressing ahead with plans to introduce a new pay-per-mile tax for electric cars from April 2028, marking one of the biggest changes to motoring taxes since the transition to electric cars began.

3. EV TIP: READ THE MANUAL

Read the manual. Finally – and it may sound obvious – always read the owner’s manual for your electric vehicle. That way you learn about optimal charging for your car and find out other tips for keeping your battery (and vehicle) in tip-top condition.

4. EV PODCAST: ELECTREK

In the Electrek Podcast, we discuss the most popular news in the world of sustainable transport and energy. In this week’s episode, we discuss Tesla shareholders potentially starting to wake up, Xpeng targeting the European market, VW going cheaper with its EVs, and more.

5. EV REVIEW: GREEN CAR GUIDE

AION V

The AION V electric family SUV launches in the UK from £36,450 OTR, the first model from the new China-built brand, which arrives in the UK as a joint venture between GAC and Jameel Motors. AION was founded in 2017 as the upper-mainstream electric brand of GAC, one of China’s largest automakers.

The V is a mid-sized family SUV pitched against the Tesla Model Y, Skoda Enyaq and Kia EV6. A 75.3kWh LFP battery delivers a class-leading-for-its-segment 317 miles WLTP range, with 30% to 80% DC fast charging in 18 minutes. A heat pump is fitted as standard.

6. EV CHANNEL: FULLY CHARGED

Jack takes a first look at one of the most highly anticipated electric cars of the year, the new Lotus Type 132 - or to give it its proper name, the Eletre. The Eletre signals the dawn of a new era at Lotus who, under the watchful eye of Chinese backers Geely, intend to place a heavy focus on electric ‘lifestyle’ vehicles in the coming years, as well as the nimble, two-seater sports cars the brand has built its reputation on. But is this two-and-a-bit tonne SUV sufficiently ‘Lotus’? Check out the video to find out.

Until next time. Have a fantastic week!
