Good morning EV Tuesday readers

Here we are back round to Tuesday, which means another week has flown by. Time just flies when you are having fun.

Las week we did have a reader email in mentioning the vast difference in the percentage change year on year between Battery Electric Vehicles & PHEV...having looked in to that this week, we can see that according to SMMT it is correct! What a big difference!

We will be posting this to our social media channels including Twitter & Reddit (check out r/evcables subreddit). If you have access to our blog, you will get an extra item :)

1. EV APP OF THE WEEK: VENDELECTRIC

VendElectric (previously ROLEC) app: subscription-free basis and variable pricing depending on the location. Their network has nearly 15,500 points found at local attractions, car parks, supermarkets and shopping centres. You can find rapid and fast charging at their destinations which locally include Squires Garden Centres and the California Country Park.

Did this new aluminium battery tech for EVs just solve cold weather battery life issues? 90% charge in 20 minutes and 92% efficiency in minus 13-degrees? Yes, please. Electric vehicles are more efficient, faster and smarter than ever before – even capable of self-driving. Yet, battery life is still a major barrier for some. It's particularly bad when it comes to the cold – with batteries being sapped and performing far more poorly in chilly regions. However, that may be about to change.

3. EV TIP: BATTERY CARE

Battery Care: To extend battery life, avoid letting it discharge completely and try to keep it between 20% and 80% charge. Follow recommended charging practices to avoid overcharging or draining your battery too much.

Ford’s $30K EV Truck: We Talk To The Guy Running The Project | InsideEVs Podcast Ep62. This week, Patrick and Tim sit down with Alan Clarke, the head of Ford’s skunkworks EV program that’s developing its next-generation EV platform. They discuss the brand’s upcoming $30,000 EV pickup, why it chose to start with a truck, what Alan learned from Tesla that he’s bringing to Ford, and why the pickup will get LFP battery cells.

5. EV REVIEW: CAR MAGAZINE

Chery Tiggo 8. Of all the Chinese automotive groups to launch in the UK so far, one of the most successful is Chery. Driven by the huge popularity of the Range Rover-lite Jaecoo brand and performance of Omoda, parent company Chery has now launched its ‘own brand’ cars in the UK, kicking off with a line-up of SUVs branded as ‘Tiggo’. Aiming to appeal primarily to the family market, Chery is hoping exceptionally keen pricing will be enough to tempt money-savvy buyers out of their European and Japanese crossovers and into cars like this: the Chery Tiggo 8. .
