It's EV Tuesday!

3rd October 2023
Hello EV people, it is your favourite time of the week! EV Tuesday is here for your enjoyment.

This week we have been working hard, searching the internet to see what we can find for you to feast your eyes on.

Are we going to have an 'Indian Summer' or is the Winter weather kicking in? Whatever the weather is doing, grab yourself a drink and a snack, sit down and enjoy this weeks newsletter.

Did You Know?
Quality Assurance:
Before shipping, each custom-made cable undergoes stringent quality assurance tests. These checks validate the product's durability, safety, and performance under various conditions. This step is crucial to ensure that the cable you receive will not just meet but exceed your expectations.

We will be posting this to our social media channels including Facebook, Twitter & Reddit (check out r/evcables subreddit). If you have access to our blog, you will get an extra item :)

Right, ready.....steady.........GO!!

Feedback, Requests, Questions?
As always, please give us feedback on Twitter. Which item is your favourite? What do you want more or less of? Other suggestions?  Just send a tweet to @ev_cables and put #EVTuesdays at the end so we can find it.

Have a great week everyone and happy reading!

1. EV APP OF THE WEEK: CHARGE POINT

Electric mobility is the smart choice. We make it the easy one, too. Since 2007, we’ve focused solely on offering the best electric vehicle (EV) charging experience for everyone involved in the shift to electric mobility. Here’s how we do it — and why we won’t stop.

2. EV NEWS: GREEN CAR REPORTS

Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) lags in locations versus the other road-trip fast-charging standards that have been used for EVs. But it is the future.
A joint chat between Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Ford CEO Jim Farley, it was announced that Ford would adopt Tesla’s NACS connector in future EVs, starting in 2025, and that current Ford EVs would gain access to Tesla’s Supercharger network starting early 2024.

3. EV TIP: EVS ARE EXEMPT FROM LOW EMISSION AND CLEAN AIR ZONE CHARGES

A small number of regions in the UK operate, or will soon be introducing, a low emissions or clean air zones. These schemes charge the worst polluting vehicles a set amount each day to drive within the zone. The idea is reduce emissions in cities, while also encouraging people to opt for a less polluting vehicle.

With zero tailpipe emissions, EVs are fully exempt from paying the London ultra-low emission zone and the Birmingham and Bristol clean air zone charges. Hybrids are also almost certainly exempt from the charge as well, although some older diesel models might not pass the emissions standards, so do check before driving in London, Birmingham, Bristol or Oxford.

4. EV BLOG: US! EV CABLES: POWER LOSS IN EV CHARGING CABLES

I'm James Lowe, Director of Engineering, at Wottz. We have invested in some pretty nice test equipment and I thought it would be a shame for me to keep it all to myself. So as an intro into the sort of topics I want to tackle I thought I start with how much power is ‘lost’ through a standard EV charging cable.

5. EV REVIEW: CONSUMER REPORTS

Chevrolet Blazer EV RS AWD POV

The Blazer EV is based on GM's Ultium platform that underpins the latest automaker's electric models. This midsized SUV will meet the competition, notably the Ford Mustang Mach-E, VW ID.4 and the Hyundai-Kia pair in terms of price, functionality, and range.

It will be offered in several trims, initially starting with the all-wheel drive RS trim with an estimated 279-mile range for $60,215.
