It's EV Tuesday!
21stApril 2026
Good morning EV Tuesday readers.
Here we are at the start of yet another week, this year is just flying by already.
Today is the day you get to have a look at what we have discovered this week. As usual there will be 5 different pieces of exciting electric car goodness including a very useful tip. You can enjoy a podcast to listen to, read a piece of news, discover a useful tip and find out about an event that is coming soon.
So, grab yourself a drink, be it hot or cold depending on what time of day it is, a biscuit or a packet of crisps, open up the 5 links and enjoy.
We will be posting this to our social media channels including Twitter & Reddit (check out r/evcables subreddit). If you have access to our blog, you will get an extra item :)
Get involved and give us any ideas in the comments, they may well get used next week!
Right, ready.....steady.........GO!!
Feedback, Requests, Questions?
As always, please give us feedback on Twitter. Which item is your favourite? What do you want more or less of? Other suggestions? Just send a tweet to @ev_cables and put #EVTuesdays at the end so we can find it.
Have a great week everyone and happy reading!
1. EV APP OF THE WEEK: BYD
BYD APP: a smart car app carefully designed for car users of BYD‘s brands. BYD APP provides users with a number of services such as remote control and car condition inquiry, bringing users smarter, convenient and worry-free car experience. Features available include: Check vehicle range and power level. Check tyre pressure of the vehicle. Check whether doors and windows of the vehicle are closed.
2. EV NEWS: CAR WOW
The government’s electric car grant has made Renault’s biggest EV more affordable, as it becomes the tenth model eligible for the full £3,750 saving. Making the switch to an electric car is a big decision, but the UK government is aiming to make it easier with its EV grant. The £1.3bn scheme offers up to £3,750 off a qualifying new electric car, and more than 50 models are now eligible.
The Renault Scenic E-Tech is the latest model to qualify for the full £3,750 electric car grant. This SUV offers up to 381 miles of range on a single charge, along with 19-inch alloy wheels, a 12.0-inch multimedia system with built-in Google, Arkamys Auditorium audio, and a heat pump.
When the weather is very cold or very hot, it takes a fair bit of energy to heat or cool the cabin. If you want to preserve range, you can start the climate control ten minutes before you leave home, with the car still connected to the mains. A number of EVs can schedule this for a set time on specific days.

4. EV PODCAST: INSIDE EVS
The EV Winners And Losers So Far This Year. Sales numbers are starting to roll in for the first quarter of 2026, and Mack and Tim dig deep into what’s happened since the EV tax credit ended last year. They break down the latest sales from Tesla, GM, Ford, Stellantis, and more.

5. EV REVIEW: THE CAR EXPERT
BYD SEAL U DM-i
BYD Seal U DM-i. BYD has been one of the fastest-growing car brands in the UK over the last couple of years, and the Seal U DM-i is its attempt to crack the family SUV market with a plug-in hybrid rather than a pure electric model. The idea is straightforward: offer the fuel efficiency and electric driving of a plug-in hybrid at a price that undercuts established European rivals, and back it up with a generous equipment list.
