EV Tuesday Week 199

EV Tuesday Week 199

It's EV Tuesday!

4th November 2025

Good morning to our readers!

Bonfire night is upon us fireworks are lighting up the sky.

We have been here in the office, keeping warm, producing cables and searching for everything EV related to bring to you this week.

In store for you today we have, as always, an app to use, a good bit of news to read and a fantastic car review.

If you have anything you would like us to add in to our EV Tuesday newsletter, please do pop it across to us and we will feature it for sure.

Now, sit back, relax and get reading this week's EV Tuesday newsletter.

We will be posting this to our social media channels including Twitter & Reddit (check out r/evcables subreddit). If you have access to our blog, you will get an extra item :)

Get involved and give us any ideas in the comments, they may well get used next week!

Right, ready.....steady.........GO!!

Have a great week everyone and happy reading!

1. EV APP OF THE WEEK: OSPREY

Sign up to find and navigate to Osprey charge points, start and stop sessions, view live status during your session, see charge history and download VAT receipts.

2. EV NEWS: CAR WOW

Could EV charging for renters and people without driverways get a whole lot cheaper and fairer? Rent a flat or don’t have a driveway? New government plans could make charging an electric car at home cheaper and fairer, regardless of where you live. If you’ve ever wanted an electric car but are worried about how to charge it at home – especially if you rent or don’t have a driveway – things could be about to get a lot simpler and cheaper.

3. EV TIP: CONSIDER WALL MOUNTED Vs PEDESTAL CHARGERS

When choosing an EV charger, you’ll have the option of a wall-mounted or pedestal-mounted installation, each offering its own set of advantages depending on your space and needs. Wall-mounted chargers are compact and ideal for garages, driveways, or places with limited space. They are typically easier and cheaper to install, making them a great choice for residential use.

On the other hand, pedestal-mounted chargers are perfect for locations where wall space is limited or when you need a more visible and accessible charging point. These chargers are often seen in public spaces, workplaces, or commercial areas where the charger needs to stand alone and be easily accessible to multiple users.

4. EV PODCAST: FULLY CHARGED

Australia’s EV Battleground – Tesla, BYD & the Electric Price War! In this episode, Robert Llewellyn sits down with Feann Torr from @carsales to unpack the electric vehicle revolution transforming Australia. From BYD and MG to Tesla and Hyundai, they discuss how Chinese automakers are shaking up the industry and driving EVs to become the most affordable option on the market.

5. EV REVIEW: AUTOMOTIVE BLOG

Leapmotor C10

Yes, the Leapmotor C10 is yet another SUV from yet another Chinese manufacturer. The difference is that unlike most of the other new car brands from China, Leapmotor is a joint venture with Stellantis – the group which already includes Peugeot, Vauxhall, Fiat, Citroen, Jeep – to name but a few. So, rather than having to set up from scratch, Leapmotor is leveraging Stellantis’ experience, which includes access to dealerships and an after-sales network.

6. EV BLOG: US! EV CABLES

Using V2L as a Makeshift Home Backup Power System: Feasibility and Risks. Electric vehicles (EVs) are evolving beyond simple transportation; many now feature Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, allowing them to supply power to external devices. This has led to a growing interest in whether V2L can serve as a temporary backup power source for homes, effectively functioning as a makeshift Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) system.
