It's EV Tuesday!
8th July 2025
Good morning to all of our EV Tuesday readers!
What a scorcher of a few weeks we have been having. Have you been pre-conditioning your cabin? Are you using your air conditioning the right way? Make sure you keep your car nice and cool!
This week we have had an enquiry from one of our dedicated readers. We have done the research and have an answer below. If you have any questions, feel free to email them in to us and we will get an answer for you!
Now is the time for some happy reading of this weeks' EV Tuesday newsletter.
We will be posting this to our social media channels including Facebook, Twitter & Reddit (check out r/evcables subreddit). If you have access to our blog, you will get an extra item :)
Right, ready.....steady.........GO!!
Feedback, Requests, Questions?
As always, please give us feedback on Twitter. Which item is your favourite? What do you want more or less of? Other suggestions? Just send a tweet to @ev_cables and put #EVTuesdays at the end so we can find it.
Have a great week everyone and happy reading!
1. EV APP OF THE WEEK: NEXT CHARGE
Nobody ever said that going Electric Vehicle would be easy. But an app, you may rely on in EV situations, makes it easier. From the very first click of your smart phone icon 'NEXTCHARGE' you will be transported to an easy-to-use ‘charging station finder’. The clean, readable interface of NEXTCHARGE will make reading and mapping station locations simple. You will notice your app is displayed in 2 views: map or list. This gives you a choice.
2. EV NEWS: BBC NEWS
The race to better 'the electric vehicle experience'. The deadline is just a decade away. From 2035, if you buy a new car in the UK, it will have to be 100% emissions free. But while the pressure to move to electric vehicles (EVs) is transforming the car making landscape, there are firms in the UK seizing an opportunity and creating jobs.

3. EV TIP: KNOW YOUR RANGE
Before hitting the road, it's crucial to know the range of your electric car, which is the distance it can travel on a single charge. Keep in mind that factors like weather, driving habits, and terrain can impact your car's range. Plan your trips accordingly and make sure you have a good understanding of where charging stations are located along your route.

4. EV CUSTOMER QUESTION: IS THERE ANY PROBLEM RUNNING THE AIR CON IN AN EV FOR AN HOUR OR SO OR WHEN STATIONARY?
Definitely should be no problem. Your car effectively does this when sitting in bad traffic anyways. Depending on outside air temperature and in car temp setting this can use more or less battery. Heat pump enabled vehicles perform better when heating and cooling the vehicle. Obviously larger vehicles use more energy but this is usually offset by larger batteries. To maximize range 18 degrees is considered a good set point with a low fan speed. Users should also pre condition their cars before leaving as to use power from the wall charger as the first 5 to 10 min of AC uses the most power as the car tries to cool down a hot vehicle or heat up a cold one.

5. EV REVIEW: CAR MAGAZINE
Peugeot e-5008
Peugeot beat its competitors to the punch with the e-5008 as, when it was first launched, there weren’t many seven-seat electric cars on the market. But its rival brands haven’t been standing still – and with competitors such as the Hyundai Ioniq 9, Volkswagen ID.Buzz LWB and Mercedes EQB on the scene, it’s now far from being the only choice, although arguable still represents some of the best value.
