EV Tuesday Week 223

It's EV Tuesday!

12th May 2026

Good morning EV Tuesday readers.

Apologies that we did not send out an EV Tuesday Newsletter last week, but we do have a good one for you this week.
We have been researching far and wide for a good selection of hints, tips and tools for you to read through. Did you know Ferrari are releasing a new Electric Vehicle? We have the review right here for you to read.........You may even consider putting it on your wish list!
Anyhow, now is the time to sit back and take a read of this week's EV Tuesday Newsletter.

We will be posting this to our social media channels including Twitter & Reddit (check out r/evcables subreddit). If you have access to our blog, you will get an extra item :)

Get involved and give us any ideas in the comments, they may well get used next week!

Right, ready.....steady.........GO!!

Feedback, Requests, Questions?
As always, please give us feedback on Twitter. Which item is your favourite? What do you want more or less of? Other suggestions? Just send a tweet to @ev_cables and put #EVTuesdays at the end so we can find it.

Have a great week everyone and happy reading!

1. EV APP OF THE WEEK: TAP ELECTRIC

The best EV charging app for clear, upfront pricing every time you charge. We know drivers want more out of their EV charging experience, so we’re building an app that does just that.

2. EV NEWS: INSIDE EVS

Hyundai’s New Motor Is Smaller, Cheaper, And Ready To Go Into Any EV. Instead of doing things the old way, Hyundai Mobis standardized and modularized several key components of the EV powertrain. Hyundai Mobis, the Korean auto group’s parts supplier, has developed a new modular electric powertrain that promises compatibility with a multitude of EV platforms.

3. EV TIP: UNDERSTAND 'READY' STATE

Understand "Ready" State: Some EVs, like new 26-plate models, turn on automatically. Check the dashboard for indicator lights to confirm the car is awake, as there is no engine noise

4. EV PODCAST: EVERYTHING ELECTRIC

Freelander Goes Electric?! AI’s Power Problem & Megawatt Charging! In this episode of the Everything Electric PODCAST, Robert is joined by fellow presenter Imogen Bhogal. What starts as a quick catch-up soon descends into a slightly unhinged conversation about the surprising return of the Freelander as an EV joint venture in China, the staggering energy demands of AI and data centres including battery systems measured in tens of gigawatt-hours that rival the power consumption of entire cities, and Robert’s unexpected VW fandom…!

5. EV REVIEW: CAR AND DRIVER

Ferrari Luce

Ferrari Luce. An electric Ferrari called Luce is currently in development and is set to debut likely as a 2028 model. Ferrari says it will be a four-seater, and we expect it to take the shape of an SUV in the same vein as the gas-powered Purosangue—which barely looks like anything you could categorize as an SUV.

6. EV BLOG: LOVE ELECTRIC

Best Small Electric Cars in the UK. Small electric cars have evolved dramatically. The 2026 market offers vehicles with 200+ miles of range, modern interiors, and reasonable pricing—especially through salary sacrifice. The Renault 5 E-Tech leads the category at £22,995, achieving up to 248 miles of WLTP range. Compact EVs excel as commuter vehicles and command strong salary sacrifice appeal.

Until next time. Have a fantastic week!
