Have a great week everyone and happy reading!

1. EV APP OF THE WEEK: ZAP MAP

UK’s No.1 EV mapping service - locate charge points, plan your journey and share updates with other EV drivers. With over 22,000 locations, 37,000 devices and 62,000 connectors mapped, Zap-Map shows charge points from both the major networks and smaller providers across the UK and Republic of Ireland.

2. EV NEWS: TOP GEAR

Kia's smallest, cheapest new electric car will be called EV2, on sale in 2026. Kia has confirmed its smallest, most affordable EV will launch in 2026. Yep, there will be a little electric car in Kia’s range that’ll be smaller than the new EV3, and thanks to Kia’s straightforward new naming strategy we already know that it’ll be called the EV2.

3. EV TIP: TAKING AN EV OVERSEAS

What are the different EV charger networks available in Europe? It’s estimated there are more than 240,000 EV chargers in Europe that offer a charge rate up to 22kW and more than 34,000 rapid chargers, which can vary from 50kW right up to 350kW - although the actual charge speed will be determined by your vehicle.

Tesla operates its Supercharger network across Europe, with 6000 Superchargers at 600 sites, while Izivia operates 100,000 charging points across Europe, all using a one-pass-fits-all system whichever country you’re in.

Allego offers 26,000 charge points, often sited near Mcdonald's restaurants, Geant Casino supermarkets and Postillion hotels, while IONITY offers 400 charging stations on big European motorways, with around six charging points per station.

Freshmile have around 150,000 sites across Europe too.

4. EV CHARGE: ZAP MAP

Courtesy of Women Drive Electric UK Facebook Group. You might be surprised to hear that there are still quite a lot of free electric vehicle (EV) charging points around in the UK. Out of more than 59,000 charging devices on Zapmap, we found that – as of April 2024 – 2,354 were free to use. Put another way, that’s around 4% of all EV charging points that won’t incur a cost. So where are they all?

5. EV REVIEW: CAR & DRIVER

2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV

2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV: Although it wears the Equinox nameplate, the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV has little else in common with that compact SUV. The differences start with its powertrain, which swaps gasoline power for electrons. The Equinox EV's exterior styling blends futuristic touches with more traditional crossover design cues, and it looks pretty cool. The entry-level front-wheel-drive powertrain, which uses a single electric motor, is 210 ponies strong.

BLOG VERSION EXTRA

6. EV CUSTOMER: ABOUT KERBO CHARGE

I've followed up and dug into the details a bit more, and it seems the company with the cable channel were featured on "Dragons Den" in the past. The following link is direct to the company who make/market the cable channel, and you can see the YouTube video where they get their investment from dragon Deborah Meaden. I thought it might be useful info for anybody who is not in a current trial area, or a different local authority altogether. This way anybody potentially could have one of these pavement channels installed.

Until next time. Have a fantastic week!
