EV Tuesday Week 160

EV Tuesday Week 160

It's EV Tuesday!

28th January 2025

Hello EV Tuesday Readers!

Where are we all based? Did anyone suffer in the recent storms? Lost electricity? Were you able to keep your cars charged at home or did you have to go and use public chargers? Pop us a message and let us know how you combat the storms we are experiencing at the moment.

This week we have a good podcast to listen to, an interesting news article from This Is Money about Pod Point and as always a review and a tip. Grab a drink and have a read through this week's EV Tuesday.

We will be posting this to our social media channels including Facebook, Twitter & Reddit (check out r/evcables subreddit). If you have access to our blog, you will get an extra item :)

Right, ready.....steady.........GO!!

Feedback, Requests, Questions?
As always, please give us feedback on Twitter. Which item is your favourite? What do you want more or less of? Other suggestions? Just send a tweet to @ev_cables and put #EVTuesdays at the end so we can find it.

Have a great week everyone and happy reading!

1. EV APP OF THE WEEK: EV NAVIGATION

EV Navigation is a turn-by-turn navigation and route planner system, created for electric car users all around the world. EV Navigation does not only provide users with a reliable navigation system, including charging stations, but it is also capable of calculating the range the users can cover with their individually selected electric car.

2. EV NEWS: THIS IS MONEY

Charging giant Pod Point loses a third of its value as demand for electric cars slumps. A slowdown in demand for battery-powered cars drove down the value of one of the country’s biggest makers of charging points for electric vehicles by a third yesterday. Pod Point said it brought in revenues of around £53million in 2024 – well below the £60million it was expecting. And it said results for 2025 are set to be lower than anticipated by City analysts and investors. Shares tumbled 35.3 per cent to 10.87p, leaving it worth just £26million.

3. EV TIP: PREPARE FOR THE UNEXPECTED

It always pays to be ready for anything. Prepare an emergency kit for your EV, including items like blankets, a torch, a first-aid kit, and extra warm clothing. Having these essentials can be a lifesaver in case of unexpected delays or breakdowns. It also pays to have alternative routes and charging options in mind in case of unexpected road closures or charging station outages.

4. EV PODCAST: EV POWERED

EV Sales Soar, Dan Ceasar on Government Consultations & Rolls Royce's Electric Success. Genesis GV70 Comfort in the Col & ZEV Mandate Consultation & EV Sales Break Records.

5. EV REVIEW: WHAT CAR?

BYD ATTO 3

The Atto 3 well priced given how generously equipped it is, plus it has a good safety rating and a battery that doesn't contain cobalt. Sadly, it's let down by uncomfortable front seats, sloppy handling and a relatively slow maximum charging speed. Go for the cheaper Comfort trim is you're buying one.

6. EV ADVENTURES: PLUG IN ADVENTURES

Founded by Chris Ramsey, Plug In Adventures (PIA) was born from a combined passion for adventure and electric vehicles. Its aim was to engage with the public in unique and different ways, championing everything electric vehicle related. However it has now become an adventure and social media influencing brand in its own right, and gives businesses and electric vehicle brands the opportunity to showcase their products and services in a captivating and uniquely interesting way.

Until next time. Have a fantastic week!
