1. EV APP OF THE WEEK: EV 8 SWITCH

This is like an EV suitability test for those considering going electric. Launched by the UK government, EV8 Switch shows you if transitioning to an EV is the right option by outlining how to reduce your carbon footprint, how much money you could save and by making bespoke EV recommendations.
For the app to work, you have to compare EVs against your existing vehicle, so it monitors and logs the journeys you take in your current vehicle for 14 days to unlock personalised insights, advice and recommendations. One of the best features is its ‘Switchability Score’ that you receive after the 14 day challenge as this indicates how suitable an EV would be for your needs.

2. EV NEWS: WHICH EV?

Veloce tops Extreme E table after event-filled Hydro X E-Prix. An all-action Extreme E race weekend in Scotland concluded with Veloce Racing winning the second Grand Final and cementing its place at the top of the Championship. The team had not fared so well the previous day, after a promising practice session on Friday.

3. EV TIP: WHEELS & TYRES

Check the tyre pressures every couple of weeks. Underinflated tyres will increase rolling resistance, taking small chunks out of the estimated range. Volkswagen EVs can be equipped with AirStop tyres. These are sealed against punctures up to 5mm in depth, eliminating the need for a spare wheel.

Don’t be tempted to splash out on larger alloy wheels; the smaller rims, the longer the range. The 20- and 21-inch wheels on the Volkswagen ID.4 might look fancy, but the 18- and 19-inch designs should deliver more miles per charge.

4. EV SUSTAINABILITY: US! EVCABLES.COM

5. EV REVIEW: CAR MAGAZINE

New Fiat 500e review: The Supermini Goes Electric

The original 500 was an attainable and surprisingly practical made-for-the-city transport that ticked every box for a 1950s buyer.

Our more modern version, launched in 2007, did little different and was hugely successful on that basis. But as much has changed in the past 13 years as the 50 the preceded it. The fully-electric model in front of you now represents a more radical overhaul.
