EV Tuesdays: Week 34
5th July 2022

It's that time of week that you have all been waiting for....EV Tuesday! Now that Summer is here, and the sun is shining, maybe you could sit in your garden to read EV Tuesdays newsletters!

Anyhow, this week we have a selection of news items, a tip and a video for you to enjoy. Don't forget to head over to our social media handles like Twitter, Facebook, Reddit (check out r/evcables subreddit), sign up and share our pages, we do like to get the word out there. You can always sign up to our blog here and receive an extra item :)

So until next week, pop the kettle on and get reading. Have a great week everyone.

1. EV APP of the Week: Optiwatt

Optiwatt: Tesla & EV Charging. Save money, reduce emissions, and track costs by automatically charging at the cheapest and cleanest times each day. Optiwatt is 100% free, works with any car charger or plug, and is a must-have improvement to your electric vehicle.

2. EV Podcast: Apple Podcasts

Electric vehicles: Should you switch? Are they the 'Best Thing Since Sliced Bread'. Greg tests one of the most popular cars in the UK and hears from experts including Mike Berners-Lee & Vicky Parrot to conclude whether electric vehicles are worth the hype and your money.

3. EV Tip: Plan Your Route

Motorways and dual carriageways are the enemy of the EV. The faster you drive, the quicker the battery will deplete, so driving at 70mph is a false economy – you’ll simply spend more time at the charging point.

Most sat navs feature an option to take the most efficient route to a destination, but don’t be afraid to break out the road atlas. Avoid motorways and fast A-roads to preserve your estimated range for longer; B-roads and country lanes are both more scenic and better for your battery.

4. EV Adventure: Plug In Adventures

Plug In Adventures and BMM Energy recently completed the journey from Edinburgh to London and back, via Monte Carlo in a BMWi 3 in just 60 hours. Seasoned ‘Plug in’ adventurer Christopher Ramsey, an electric vehicle enthusiast, enjoys nothing more than pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle travel and testing the UK and Europe’s EV infrastructures to the limits.

5. EV News: Drive Electric

Hyundai IONIQ 6 unveiled as a sleek aerodynamic saloon. After the rip-roaring success of the IONIQ 5, Hyundai has unveiled the design for its upcoming companion - the villainous-looking IONIQ 6.

6. EV Review: You Tube

The Peugeot e-208 is a car that every potential and existing EV owner has considered buying - but it's only once you get hands on do you see why.

Until next time. Have a fantastic week!
