EV Tuesday Week 217

EV Tuesday Week 217

It's EV Tuesday!

24th March 2026

Good morning EV Tuesday readers.

It's that time of week again all you EV users, we are here with an abundance of EV related goodies for you to read through and enjoy.

As usual there will be 5 different pieces of exciting electric car goodness including a very useful tip. You can enjoy a You Tube video, find out some news, learn some EV acronyms and find out about towing a caravan with an EV

So, grab yourself a drink, be it hot or cold depending on what time of day it is, a biscuit or a packet of crisps, open up the 5 links and enjoy.

We will be posting this to our social media channels including Twitter & Reddit (check out r/evcables subreddit). If you have access to our blog, you will get an extra item :)

Get involved and give us any ideas in the comments, they may well get used next week!

Right, ready.....steady.........GO!!

Feedback, Requests, Questions?
As always, please give us feedback on Twitter. Which item is your favourite? What do you want more or less of? Other suggestions? Just send a tweet to @ev_cables and put #EVTuesdays at the end so we can find it.

Have a great week everyone and happy reading!

1. EV APP OF THE WEEK: APPLEGREEN ELECTRIC

The Applegreen Electric App allows EV drivers utilise a vast network of ultra-fast chargers across UK & Ireland. We offer this to complement our contactless payment options where no membership or app is required. Using our user-friendly app, you can see all charger locations in real-time.

2. EV NEWS: DRIVE ELECTRIC

Luxury car tax changes from April 2026 – good news for many EV drivers. From April 2026, a change to UK car tax could lower the cost of driving electric for many people. Electric cars have been subject to road tax since April 2025. Now the “luxury car tax” (officially the Expensive Car Supplement) element of VED is changing. And while car tax in general is edging up slightly, this particular update is a positive step for people choosing electric.

3. EV TIP: 5 WAYS OF BOOSTING YOUR DRIVING RANGE

Use regenerative braking (if available)
Switch off any unnecessary features.
Keep your tyres inflated.
Take it steady on the pedal.
Be smart with your charging.

4. EV ACRONYMS: VIRTA GLOBAL

Most industries, from science to healthcare to marketing, are chock full of acronyms, to the point where reading or listening to anything related to the industry can be mystifying to anyone on the “outside”. The electric vehicle industry is no exception. In fact, abbreviations are so common in this industry that we were able to create an entire article out of them. Whether you’re new to the world of electric vehicles and electric vehicle charging (or you’ve been around for a while and are, at this point, too afraid to ask), we hope that this list helps you understand more about the world of electric vehicles.

5. EV REVIEW: TOP GEAR

Toyota bZ4X

This is the bZ4X, Toyota’s first attempt at a pure electric vehicle, and mild irritant for fast typers. It’s a car that’s been co-developed between Toyota and Subaru, with Toyota doing most of the hardware. Subaru's sister car is the Solterra, but the Toyota prices begin lower because it offers front-wheel drive as well as four-wheel drive. The Subaru is 4WD, twin-motor only.

6. EV TOWING: PRACTICAL CARAVAN

As the nicer weather is starting to appear, here we look at the best Electric Vehicles for towing a caravan. Electric cars for towing will generally come with high power and torque, typically offering excellent stability and acceleration, which are always welcome traits when choosing good caravan tow cars. But we can’t pretend towing with an EV is as convenient as it is with a car powered by an internal combustion engine. Range is a sticking point, but not the biggest. Yes, you’ll run low on charge every couple of hours, but it’s best to take a break every two hours anyway.

Until next time. Have a fantastic week!
