What vehicles is this cable compatible with?
This V2L cable is designed exclusively for MG electric vehicles, including:
- MG4 EV
- MG ZS EV (2022 to 2023, check compatibility)
- MG5 EV (Facelifted 2023)
- MG Cyberster
- MG Marvel R
Please note, however, that some ZS EVs built after June 2023 may have had the V2L function disabled by the manufacturer so please check whether your model has been affected or not before purchase.
What appliances can be powered?
You can power kettles, lights, camping gear, laptops, power tools, e‑bike chargers, even coffee machines. Any regular, everyday domestic appliance can be powered by this V2L cable.
Is it safe to use in damp or outdoor conditions?
It is safe to use outdoors but you must keep the connector and socket dry. Use the supplied rubber dust cover to prevent debris and water ingress when not in use, and avoid using the cable in puddles or leaving the Type‑2 connector wet. Water on pins can lead to corrosion and is not covered under warranty.
There is a waterproof socket option for intended/extended outdoor use.
What cable lengths and socket types are available?
You can choose from cable lengths of 0.5 m, 2.5 m, 10 m, or 15 m depending on your setup and distance needed between vehicle and appliances.
The standard version for UK includes a UK single 3 pin socket and a 2 gang 3 pin socket option.
Other socket types - CEE (e.g. camper vans), Schuko (European socket) and waterproof sockets are also available.

Purchased a V2L last week from EV cables, tested it today with my 2022 fl mg5 and I'm absolutely knocked out how it went, firstly I managed to boil a kettle directly from the car so that's the house emergency power sorted then along with a granny charger managed to start charging my daughters mokka EV so that's the emergency EV car charger sorted too, V2L is absolute witchcraft!!!

PLEASE NOTE: We have received reports that the latest deliveries (06/2023 onwards) of MG ZS models sometimes have the V2L functionality disabled or removed. Please confirm with your dealer before purchasing.
MG is aware that the V2L feature is not working correctly with cars built during a certain period of 2023. They have issued a notice to MG dealers and customers can request install of the correct component which enables the V2L. Learn more.

Safety
CABLE CARE & CHARGING SAFTEY
- The cable should be kept out of puddles but can be kept outside.
- Please remember to use the rubber dust cover to keep debris from collecting in the connector when not in use.
- Moisture is the most common issue experienced and will lead to corrosion of the pins which are not covered by our warranty.
What are the risks of charging in the rain?
Water can still get into the plug and charging socket during the insertion and removal of the plug from the car. In fact, as soon as you open the charge port or unplug your car, the rain will get onto the pins and stay there until the next time you charge.
