Here at EV Cables, we all hope you had a fantastic festive period and an enjoyable New Year.

We kick off our weekly EV Tuesday newsletter this week with a look at some of the future EVs that maybe out throughout the year of 2026.

1. EV APP OF THE WEEK: SWARCO E.CONNECT

The SWARCO E.Connect App allows you to Charge your car at any of the chargers we manage across the UK and Europe. Use your app to find and navigate to Charging stations near you and then access the network.

2. EV NEWS: THE GUARDIAN

UK government plays down reports of plan to bring EV sales target review forward. Though minister had said ZEV mandate review would be completed ‘quickly as we can’, government confirms it won’t be published until 2027. The government had said in April it would weaken its zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) mandate – which was brought in to force carmakers to sell more electric cars every year or face the prospect of steep fines – after lobbying from the car industry, and planned to review the targets.

3. EV TIP: SCHEDULE CHARGING IN COLD WEATHER

If you know when you plan to drive, you can schedule the charging session to make sure you heat the car and warm the battery up before you set off. This can also help regenerative braking function better.

6. FUTURE EVS: EV POWERED

Here are 10 future classic EVs according to EV Powered. A conversation oft-had at EV Powered HQ is one about future classic EVs. With that in mind, we sat down to discuss a whole bunch of cars we consider to meet this criterion. Despite not using any scientific methodology at all in our decision making and adopting advanced research methods (see, talking nonsense via Slack and Zoom), we defined a future classic EV as one that falls into the following categories: A car that’s extremely niche, has a cult following, is/was extremely popular, or represented a first of some sorts.
