When we came to buy our own EV charging cables, there wasn’t much to choose from. Just a few different lengths and one colour - that’s it. So when we came across EV Cables, we knew we could take something great and make it even greater.
We thought about all the things we wanted from an EV charging cable and brought our designs to life - rigorously testing and refining each product until we created a cable that outperformed the rest.

We run 6 tests across 64 different test points on every completed cable to ensure it’s safe, reliable and longer-lasting. Because why risk a cheap cable with an expensive car?

evcables.co.uk (now evcables.com) Founded
Richard, an early EV enthusiast who saw a gap in the market started evcables.co.uk to provide quality charging cables to the UK market.
Acquired By Wottz
Wottz is the parent company for Wottz Cables & evcables.com, and is dedicated to incubating products and services to ease the adoption of electric vehicles. Founded in March 2021 by Graham O'Reilly and Iain Herd in Marlow, Bucks at the height of covid, then quickly joined by James Louw our Director of Engineering. We wanted to start a business together after being friends and colleagues for 20 years and were looking for niche products or businesses in expanding tech markets.

Wottz Cables specialises in manufacturing assured-safe charging cables for electric vehicles, catering to large distributors, retailers, car manufacturers, and chargepoint suppliers.

Lightweight & Ultra-Flexible
Unlike typical tape-packed cables used in charging cables, our proprietary Wottz Cable Flex technology used TPU injection moulding ensuring a cable which is thinner, lightweight and flexible without sacrificing durability, making it easier to carry, coil, and store them, when on the go.
Enhanced Oversized Pilot Core for Signal Integrity
Unlike the industry-standard 0.5mm² pilot cores used for charge point-to-vehicle communication, our cable features an oversized 0.75mm² pilot core. It reduces the risk of communication failure.
Moved to New Marlow Manufacturing Facility
Building, testing & leaning. Our New EV Cable lab draws on 10 years of experience in complex manufacturing.
Our bespoke test station developed in partnership with the leader in automated test equipment enables continuity, resistance and insulation testing. We perform 6 tests across 64 different test points on every cable before shipping.

Launched Wottz Type 2 Plug
Our Type 2 plug is a symbol of robust engineering. The receptacle, crafted from glass-reinforced nylon, exhibits exceptional wear and heat resistance, ensuring a snug fit every time you plug in. The ABS handle with rib reinforcement can withstand the crushing forces of an accidental run over by a car. Moreover, the UV-stabilised ABS plastic wards off brittleness caused by prolonged exposure to sunlight.
