It's EV Tuesday!

25th July 2023
It's that time of week again EV Lovers! Happy Tuesday!
Today is the day you get to have a look at what we have in store for you. This week there will be 5 different pieces of exciting electric car goodness.
You can enjoy an app, a tip, some news and a great car review. So, grab yourself a drink, be it hot or cold depending on what time of day it is, a biscuit or a packet of crisps, open up the 5 links and enjoy.

Did you know?
Type 2 plugs can also be referred to as “Mennekes plugs” in reference to the German company that originally designed them. Type 2 AC charging plugs can also be used in DC CCS2 (Combined Charging System) car sockets, as the Type 2 socket forms part of the DC charging standard.

We will be posting this to our social media channels including FacebookTwitter & Reddit (check out r/evcables subreddit). If you have access to our blog, you will get an extra item :)

Right, ready.....steady.........GO!!

Have a great week everyone and happy reading!

1. EV APP OF THE WEEK: PARKOPEDIA PARKING

With the Parkopedia app, you can find and book parking close to your destination. Retrieve your booking within the app and show it when you arrive for stress-free parking. You can also filter by spaces or car parks with EV charging points, making it another great choice for EV owners.

2. EV NEWS: GEEKY GADGETS

Tata Motors will build a new £4 billion EV battery factory in the UK, the company is the owner of Jaguar Land Rover and the company will create up to 4,000 direct jobs at the factory in the UK.
The UK government has come to an agreement with Tata Motors for this new Gigafactory to be built in the UK and it will apparently be able to produce almost half of the battery production that the UK will need by 2030 for electric vehicles.

3. EV TIP: READERS TIP

A regular reader of our EV Tuesday Newsletter emailed in with a good tip.

Use -10 °C screen wash in winter because the engine won't get hot and melt the screen wash reservoir.

Thanks Tom

4. EV BLOG: US! EV CABLES

Welcome to our informative guide on electric vehicle (EV) charger types! As the world transitions to EVs, understanding the different types of electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) and cables is essential. EV chargers can be categorised as rapid, ultra-rapid, fast, or slow, and use either direct current (DC) or alternating current (AC), with various socket types. In this blog, we'll discuss the differences and help you understand which charging types should be used and when.

5. EV REVIEW: ELECTRIFYING

Nissan Ariya

The NIssan Ariya sits above the existing LEAF model and takes the form of a family-sized SUV. Nissan is hoping to tap into the vast global market for medium-sized electric SUVs and is aiming squarely at the likes of the Volkswagen ID.4 (and ID.5), ŠKODA Enyaq iV and Tesla Model Y. It's also got to face the bZ4X from arch-rival Toyota.

6. EV FACTS: ALTERNATIVE FUELS DATA CENTRE

How do electric vehicles work? All-electric vehicles, also referred to as battery electric vehicles (BEVs), have an electric motor instead of an internal combustion engine. The vehicle uses a large traction battery pack to power the electric motor and must be plugged in to a wall outlet or charging equipment, also called electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE). Because it runs on electricity, the vehicle emits no exhaust from a tailpipe and does not contain the typical liquid fuel components, such as a fuel pump, fuel line, or fuel tank.

Until next time. Have a fantastic week!
