Have a great week everyone and happy reading!

1. EV APP OF THE WEEK: EVSE MASTER

An app for smart EV charging stations. With this app, you can control the charging station through your smartphone, making it easier than ever to charge your car.

2. EV NEWS: THE INDEPENDENT

Electric cars approach ‘tipping point’ as battery prices plummet. ‘The death of the internal combustion engine is near,’ says energy analyst. The cost of batteries fell by nearly 10 per cent in August, taking them past a key milestone that is seen by energy analysts as a “tipping point” to supercharge the transition to electric vehicles.

3. EV TIP: SHOP AROUND FOR A GOOD TARIFF

Shop around for a good EV Tariff. EV tariffs are almost always dual-rate, which means you’ll pay less to charge your car when electricity demand is at its lowest and usually that’s overnight. That suits a great number of electric car owners, who often get into the habit of plugging it in when they get home in the evening.

For these drivers, scheduling their charging directly from their car or via an app, either synced to the smart wallbox or provided by the electricity supplier, can make this whole procedure very easy indeed.

4. EV SALES: CLEAN TECHNICA

The rise of small EVs is finally happening. Global plugin vehicle registrations were up 41% in July 2023 compared to July 2022, rising to 1,104,00 units. In the end, plugins represented 16% share of the overall auto market (11% BEV share alone). This means that the global automotive market is firmly in the Electric Disruption Zone.

5. EV REVIEW: INSIDE EVS

Volvo EX30 2025

Volvo EX30 2025: When it goes on sale next year, the 2025 EX30 will be Volvo’s smallest, least-expensive model. At 166.7 inches long, 72.3 inches wide, and 61.1 inches tall, the electric EX30 is about the same size as a Hyundai Kona. And with an expected starting price of $36,145 including an $1,195 destination charge, the EX30 will undercut the price of Volvo’s current entry-level EV, the XC40 Recharge, by a full $18,600.

6. EV PODCAST: FULLY CHARGED

This is VW’s First Electric GTI Car! Jack takes a look around VW's first ever GTI-badged EV, the ID GTI Concept. Based on the £25,000 ID.2all, this car promises to bring affordable driving thrills to the electric era, just as its GTI-badged predecessors have done for ICE power since the 1970s. But is it the real deal or, like so many performance-badged EVs, is this merely an aesthetic upgrade?

Until next time. Have a fantastic week!
