EV Tuesdays Week 56

EV Tuesdays Week 56

It's EV Tuesday!

6th December 2022
It's that time of the week again, EV Tuesdays is here!

How many of us have finished their Christmas shopping? Maybe someone needs something EV related? Take a look through the website and see what you can find!

In the meantime, why not add a little time to sit down and read a few hints, tips and some useful information about anything EV related (it could help with Christmas ideas).

This week we have another selection of 5 tools for you to enjoy. Don't forget we will also be adding these to our social media channels on Facebook, Twitter & Reddit (check out r/evcables subreddit). If you would like an extra item click here and visit our blog. Leave us some feedback and let us know your thoughts on what we have included or what you would like to see. Happy reading :)

Feedback, Requests, Questions?
As always, please give us feedback on Twitter. Which item is your favourite? What do you want more or less of? Other suggestions? Just send a tweet to @ev_cables and put #EVTuesdays at the end so we can find it.

Have a great week everyone and happy reading!

1. EV APP OF THE WEEK: ZAP MAP

UK’s No.1 EV mapping service - locate charge points, plan your journey and share updates with other EV drivers.

With over 20,000 locations, 34,000 devices and 55,000 connectors mapped, Zap-Map shows charge points from both the major networks and smaller providers across the UK and Republic of Ireland.

2. EV QUESTION: ARE ELECTRIC CARS MORE RELIABLE THAN PETROL OR DIESEL?

Electric cars have only sold in significant numbers since around 2013, but evidence suggests they are very dependable.

A What Car? survey found faults occurred on just 5% of Tesla Model 3s, and the reliability of several other popular EVs also rates in the high 90s.2.

For example, the Hyundai Kona Electric was rated as 98.5% reliable, the BMW i3 as 97.9%, the Nissan Leaf as 97.2% and the Jaguar I-Pace as 97%. What are your thoughts?

3. EV TIP: APPS

Get a couple of EV apps. Firstly, it’s a good idea to download multiple apps for your new EV, as different apps have different specialities and uses, plus it’s always good to cover your bases.

There are of course the obvious recommendations such as an app that corresponds with the manufacturer of your car (you’ll get a lot of valuable information there, plus it’s often where you’ll receive necessary updates), a charging app for when you’re on the go, as well as an app that can help you plan journey ahead of time, which is particularly useful when you’re going on longer journeys.

4. EV NEWS: DRIVE ELECTRIC

Electric becomes mainstream with Vauxhall Astra and Astra Sports Tourer EVs. Arriving in 2023, Vauxhall expand their all-electric passenger car line-up with two new additions.

5. EV REVIEW: CAR BUYER

MG has become one of the UK’s fastest growing car brands, thanks to its affordable models, and particularly its range of electric cars which tend to undercut rivals.

The MG4 is arguably its most important model yet, because this family hatchback-sized EV is aimed squarely at key models like the Nissan Leaf, Volkswagen ID.3, Renault Megane E-Tech Electric, Kia Niro EV and Cupra Born.
