Until then, grab a drink, click on the links below and enjoy this weeks 5 items.
1. EV APP of the Week: Manufacturer Apps
While third-party electric car apps can be really useful for EV owners, sometimes it really helps to go straight to the source. In this case, that means your car’s manufacturer. Many EV manufacturers like Tesla & Ford to name a few, have their own apps which can be a great source of information and tools for drivers to take advantage of.
2. EV News: Amazon Vehicles Turn Electric
The testing is complete and Amazon's custom electric delivery vehicles have started making deliveries in multiple cities across the US.
As part of its goal to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040, Amazon ordered 100,000 electric delivery vehicles from Rivian back in 2019. The final design was revealed in 2020, and Amazon started testing them in the Los Angeles area last year.
3. EV Tip: Plan Your EV Summer Road Trip
Plan your EV summer road trip. Now that we’ve covered the top tips and tricks to maximize your EV range, it’s time to get ready and prepare for the summer road trip.
- Check your tyre pressure (an optimal tyre pressure will even help with your range)
- Make sure you have your cables
- Check which chargers your car is compatible with (Type 1, Type 2, CCS)
- Get your road trip playlist ready
- Plan your route in advance
That last point is so important, it needs its own paragraph. When it comes to EVs it’s best to plan a route with charge points along the way. Although charging infrastructure is growing at a very promising pace, it is still a bit of a hurdle, especially when it comes to long road trips in an EV. Luckily, there are plenty of free resources available to help you plan your route.
Zap-Map and A Better Route Planner are two apps, which allow users to plan an EV journey based on the chargers available during the route and the range of the car used. An excellent way to help get rid of that range anxiety!
4. EV Video: The Climate Question
Is the world ready for electric vehicle revolution? There are over 10 million electric cars on the road globally after a decade of rapid growth, representing around 1% of the world’s car stock. But there are questions about whether there is the infrastructure to match.
5. EV Social Media Group: EV Drivers
Join this social media group on Facebook. It is a great group for EV drivers, those looking to purchase an EV or those just generally interested in anything EV related.
