Are you ready..........GO!

1. EV App of the Week: WattsUp

WattsUp is the app that you’ve been waiting for and a revolution in how rapid charging options are presented to electric vehicle (EV) drivers.

Enjoy the ability to easily view a chosen route knowing that the information is comprehensive, up to date and includes all major network operators.

2. EV Review: AutoCar

The all-new Mégane E-Tech Electric crossover is another serious ‘budge up’ from battery technology as it starts to shove combustion engines out of the mainstream.

After all, the ICE Renault Mégane is a trusty old member of the family hatchback class, but this new car is purely electric – albeit to be sold alongside the plug-in hybrid Mégane for a couple of years.

3. EV Tip: Wheels & Tyres

Check the tyre pressures every couple of weeks. Underinflated tyres will increase rolling resistance, taking small chunks out of the estimated range.

Volkswagen EVs can be equipped with AirStop tyres. These are sealed against punctures up to 5mm in depth, eliminating the need for a spare wheel. Don’t be tempted to splash out on larger alloy wheels; the smaller rims, the longer the range.

The 20- and 21-inch wheels on the Volkswagen ID.4 might look fancy, but the 18- and 19-inch designs should deliver more miles per charge.

4. EV News: Charge Point Boost

Drivers will have access to more than 1,000 new electric vehicle chargepoints across the country. Drivers will have better access to electric vehicle chargepoints across the country, through a new pilot backed by £20 million of government and industry funding announced on the 24th August 2022.

5. EV Podcast: The EV Musings Podcast

138 - The Council Episode This is EV Musings a podcast about renewable's, electric vehicles and things that are interesting to electric vehicle owners.

On the show today we'll be looking at the local councils and their differing levels of interest and involvement in EV charger roll-out.

6. EV Review: Marlow EV Facebook

A great review from Joe Baguley on Marlow Electric Vehicles FB.

One of my EO Mini chargers developed a fault this morning and my cable melted into the socket. This turns out to be a known fault and EO Chargers have been fantastically responsive and are replacing both my chargers early next week. EO also agreed to pay to replace the damaged cable. Unfortunately the one that failed was the one with my long cable (17.5m) in that allows me to not shuffle cars around all the time to charge them.

So I ordered a new one from EV Cables at 13:30 this afternoon telling them my story and a little over an hour later they made up and dropped the new cable off at my door. I’ve been using them for years for all my cables, and will continue to do so of course!!!

Until next time. Have a fantastic week!
